Report of Day-1 of Celebration of Shiksha Saptah - July 22, 2024

Introductory:

On July 19, 2024, the principal of St. Anselm’s Sr. Sec. School, Abu Road, convened a meeting with the coordinators of the foundation stage, preparatory stage, middle stage, and secondary stage to discuss the upcoming celebration of Shiksha Saptah, scheduled from July 22 to July 28, 2024. The meeting focused on aligning the week’s activities with the NEP policy to promote holistic learning and development. The school management and teachers exhibited great enthusiasm, meticulously planning and preparing a series of engaging and educational activities to ensure a successful and enriching week for the students.

Theme: TLM (Teaching Learning Materials) Day

Venue: St. Anselm’s Sr. Sec. School, Abu Road

Activities Overview:

1. Identifying Famous or Prominent Personalities and Writing a Small Write-Up

a) Class 1-2: Identified and wrote a small write-up on 1 prominent personality.

b) Class 3-5: Identified and wrote small write-ups on 2 prominent personalities each.

c) Class 6-8: Identified and wrote small write-ups on 3 prominent personalities each.

d) Class 9-12: Identified and wrote small write-ups on 4 prominent personalities each.

2. Vocabulary Learning and Storytelling Activity

Class 3-5: Conducted sessions on learning new vocabulary words and a storytelling activity to enhance language skills.

3. Chart Making Activity

Class 6-8: Created charts on the theme “Healthy Food and Market Chain” to understand the importance of nutrition and the food supply system.

4. Open Library Activity

Class 9-10: Organized an open library session where students read books/newspaper aloud in the school’s open field, promoting a culture of reading and public speaking.

5. Slogan Writing Activity

Class 11-12: Wrote slogans on the theme “Save Water” to raise awareness about water conservation.

Detailed Report:

Class 1-2 Activity:

The youngest students enthusiastically participated in identifying a prominent personality and writing a brief description of their contributions. This activity helped them recognize and learn about influential figures and their importance in history or society.

Class 3-5 Activity:

Students in these classes worked on vocabulary learning by identifying new words, understanding their meanings, and using them in sentences. The storytelling activity further allowed them to practice their new vocabulary in a creative context.

Class 6-8 Activity:

The chart-making activity focused on “Healthy Food and Market Chain.” Students created informative and colourful charts that depicted the journey of food from farms to markets, emphasizing the importance of healthy eating and awareness of food sources.

Class 9-10 Activity:

The open library activity involved students gathering in the school’s open field to read books/newspaper aloud. This not only improved their reading skills but also built their confidence in public speaking and fostered a love for reading.

Class 11-12 Activity:

Senior students engaged in a slogan writing competition on the theme “Save Water.” This activity aimed to highlight the importance of water conservation, and the creative slogans were displayed around the school to inspire and educate others.

The first day of Shiksha Saptah was a vibrant and educational start, setting a positive tone for the rest of the week. The activities were well-received by the students, fostering a sense of learning and community spirit.
